Acathia Capital is specialized in investments in the financial services sector across Europe. We possess a unique combination of 20 years of investment expertise plus previous top management experience in the financial services sector.
For international institutional investors, Acathia Capital acts as investment manager or advisor. We manage the entire investment process - from the sourcing and analysis of the investment, over the obtaining of the relevant regulatory approvals all the way to successfully managing the investments post-acquisition.
Based on our extensive investment experience in the financial services sector, we have addressed a large variety of different challenges. Hence, we developed a proven toolkit of flexible solutions for almost every issue. Therefore, we have the ability to make well-founded and reliable decisions very quickly.

INVESTMENT CRITERIA
We are pooling institutional investors in our joint venture investment vehicles on a deal-by-deal basis. In total we are managing more than €250m of equity in two active investment vehicles on behalf of our institutional investors. The assets under management are about half from German pension funds and half from German insurance groups.
Benelux Life Run-off
Exit in 2018
set-up in order to establish a Life Run-off Platform in the Benelux. ABN AMRO Life Capital was acquired in 2017. In 2018, the investment was exited to Monument Re.
Viking Life
Active since 2018
Joint venture of 2 German insurers and 5 German pension funds alongside Acathia. Acquisition of Danica Pension, a fully digitalized life insurer operating as a saving platform in 2019 with approval of Swedish FSA. Since acquisition and carve-out from Danske Bank it has delivered outstanding results, e.g. increase (vs. 2018) of
-premium income by 300% to €4.5bn
-AUM by 125% to €19bn.

€85m of capital commitments raised from German insurers and German pension funds alongside Acathia. The investment strategy is to acquire a material minority stake in a late-stage Fintech with a proven business model and strong competitive advantage proven by consistent outperformance vis-à-vis established players.
